Abstract

In this paper we continue the theory to explain the relation of sight with consciousness. As well, dreaming in relation to sight and consciousness. This paper will highlight the proof of external universal signal that makes human conscious. Also, this paper will reveal consciousness dimensions and levels. Then the qualia phenomena will be explained biologically and psychologically.

Keywords: sentience; consciousness; sight; dreaming; qualia

Introduction

It is known that any theory of consciousness needs to address some famous neurological cases and how that theory can provide an explanation how consciousness works in the proposed theory and how it works in these cases? There is a famous case of Phineas Gage which eliminates the global work station theory of consciousness. There are many cases that show that the global work station is a wrong theory as well as the information integration theory/synchronized systems which generate consciousness. Here is another case of a French person who scored 85 on the IQ test and he complained of nothing. One day, he experienced
weakness in his leg and he went to the hospital then the requested CT scan revealed a severe hydrocephalus. His brain was a small thin layer near the inner table of the skull. This could be a normal pressure hydrocephalus or congenital pure analgesia. If the person does not have the previous two conditions, then there are two issues; 1- the brain in it's entirety is not conscious as thought to be, but there are unconscious parts like the cerebellum and 2- consciousness can't be generated in the brain since 75% or more of the brain matter was squished against the skull in the published case. If the systems in the brains work together to generate consciousness when they are pushed away from each other by severe hydrocephalus then why the brain functions were not affected at all when squashing occured?. Any process or work that needs to get done, it needs it's own space to generate the end result of that work. If you have a company with many workers and you brought all of them and placed them in one room of the whole company building, they might work, but the generated work will be messy with a very poor quality or no work gets done. Why did we not see any change on that French person's IQ, consciousness, social life, etc? If there is one region of the brain or all the brain is responsible for consciousness then consciousness will be affected.

The epineural theory of consciousness states that an external signal of consciousness comes to our brain and our brain is just the receptor and the processor of that signal [1, 2, 3]. Any unprocessed signal might stick in the back of our mind then be figured out later which makes people think that we have sub-consciousness which is a false name of memory and re-figuring out the meaning of that signal. This can be called realization or re-cognition.

Mental dexterity can be achieved by clearing and relaxing the mind. When the mind is relaxed and it is not always under stress, then it could think clearly. When these have been done and mental dexterity have been achieved, oversight of mistakes, insight, foresight, and hindsight will be possible.

Sight and Dreaming

Sigmund Fraud wrote a book titled, The Interpretation of Dreams in 1899, and Itzhak Bentov mentioned in his book Stalking the Wild Pendulum in 1977, that dreams can give us a heads up of what will happen in life which can be called foresight [4, 5]. Dreams as well can give us insight, hindsight, or even an oversight.

Sight is defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary, as a position within view [6]. Seeing from different views is an essential thing in epineural theory of consciousness [2]. The word sight can have 4 prefixes which are; 'over', 'hind', 'in', and 'fore'. These four words/terms are rooted in human languages for a reason which is seeing from different angles and views which affect our consciousness and sentience. Also, it makes us appreciate having different views/sights. The level of our sentience is connected with how many mental views of the reality that we have. Having access to many views, it means high sentience level and vice versa.

Generally speaking, dreams do not control us (except people who believe it). we can control the dream blot, to end the dream, expose the dream during dreaming that is not true in real life and it is just a dream, change the dream, etc. this is called lucid dreaming what is happing is that our mind is affected by our daily life and it could appear in the dream or not. Sometimes, dreams becomes bizzare like a story that I have been told once that someone was a neurologist and he dreamed of his college registrar who never saw in 30 years came to his clinic and he was complaining of vertigo and tinnitus. The next day, the dream came exactly 100%. How is that possible? It only can be explained as an external signal.

Consciousness Signal

This external signal from global or universal workstation/s could be; 1- unknown signal (humans did not discovere this type), or 2-knowen signal, (well known energy, but due to its weakness, it is not detected) like what Itzhak Bentov proposed in his book that is for mentioned and he puts an example of the gravitational waves. Holograms according to Bentov is the storage of the universal information like a cloud of human information. It is likely to be true. But both gravitational waves and holograms are not intelligent in themselves. So they need uncaused cause which has wisdom, intelligence, and will. Furthermore, evolution does not explain consciousness, even though, Itzhak Bentov tried, but it did not work since he did not describe the mechanism and instead he used assumptions only. When we study consciousness, we do not study the cause, but we study the effect. After accumulating a lot of evidences, thought experiments, and unexplained clinical cases, we can say with confidence that consciousness is an external signal that comes to the brain. The holograms are the parallel universe of us. The signal is not clear it comes from the holograms themselves or from another source of energy then it has inspiration for humans. When we have -what I call it “dreams déjà vu”- it could be having that experience in the hologramic parallel universe. The hologramic parallel universe is what people call it “the spirit world”. Itzhak said that holograms are made of two coherent beams from one source. The pure beam and the experienced beam. We could be receiving a signal from the two sources; the hologramic and the source of the coherent beam. In order to make the beam experienced, it must pass through humans to be experienced in something. In simple words, we affect the hologram and the hologram affects us see (Fig. 1).

Dimensions of Consciousness

According to the M-theory of superstrings in physics, there are 11 dimensions. The 1st dimension is the length, the 2nd dimension is the width, the 3rd dimension is the height, the 4th dimension is the time, the 5th dimension is probability space, the 6th dimension is the many world theory from any point chosen or not, the 7th dimension is every possible choice makes a one point within the next dimension, the 8th dimension is infinite parallel universes intersect with the previous 6th and 7th dimensions via possible choices, the 9th dimension is all possible infinite choices using time as a backdrop, the 10th dimension is the accumulation of all universes before it, and the 11th dimension is everything or nothing exists dimension see (Table 1).

Itzhak Bentov wrote and illustrated how these dimensions are but his illustration was wrong so here is the “fixed” scientific version of the diagram for human beings. We are not in the 4th dimension as humans because we can’t travel in time back and forth.

Levels of Consciousness

There is a lot of dispute about levels of consciousness and everyone make arbitrary levels without giving an explanation that is logical and coherent. Here is a proposal of consciousness levels that is based on  coherent logical foundation see (Fig. 3). The first level is instinctive where animals, plants, sub-atomical particles, objects, and humans have in common according to their nature. This instinctive consciousness is considered consciousness according to many, but usually what humans refer to in general is higher cognitive function (the 3rd level of consciousness). Perceptional attentiveness is shared between humans and animals and to some extent sub-atomical particle like photons and plants, but it is very obvious in the animal kingdom more.

Higher cognitive functions is only for humans and from that level up is only for humans because they have the appropriate receptor (i.e. brain) for those higher level of consciousness. It will be surprising to know that most humans are stuck in the higher cognitive function level due to being busy in physical life. They speak, read, write, communicate, etc. The higher mental function is for those who think and contemplate. There are few humans who question their thinking and think about their thoughts and ideas which is less common. Then there are even fewer people who use their mind's eye to see things behind the physical universe and receive an inspiration about complex unsolvable problems by thinking in one point and clearing their minds from anything else. They prepare their brain to receive the universal signal more clearly by focusing on one point and avoiding the physical materialistic life. It is more spiritual diving in the external signal. The more the person gets spiritual, the more they come in contact with the metaphysical world which is a hard stage to reach to.

Humans can go to all these levels up or even go down of all stages of the pyramid of consciousness to reach the instinctive level or the metaphysical level. Humans who do not eat and sleep for many days, their cortex could be not working, but only the diencephalon like a reptile brain which is instinctive. Humans that have a severe mental retardation, could be in that instinctive level. Having contemplation and meditation could improve the level of consciousness to go up the levels of consciousness.

Qualia Explanation

Qualia surly exists and it can be explained in two ways; biologically or psychologically. The biological/morphological point of view that there are anatomical variations in every part of the body. For example, not all humans have the same eye and hair color due to the fact that the keratin level is not the same in all humans; therefore; some have blond hair and blue eyes, while others have dark hair and dark eye lenses. Similar to the previous analogy, the cones in human's eyes are not one shade of red, green, and blue, but they are different shades of the color in different humans. The intensity of the color in the red cone for example might be dark red in one human and light red in one human. The generated mixture of the three colors will generate different shades of the generated colors.

The psychological explanation of qualia is that we have different personalities, different interests in different topics, different mental illnesses, etc. You can find a person that does not make any spelling mistakes like a computer and another person how needs to check the spelling of every single word that he/she wrote. Due to the inclination to focus on personal interests and individual curiosities. So if someone not interested in something they probably will ignore it. Some individual have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) like Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), agnosia for any reason, achromatopsia (monochromacy), aphantasia, sectomas, etc. It might be the event is happening in the blind spot or the person is not paying attention for whatever reason it is. If there is any exception of what mentioned above then it will be the exception that proves the rule.

Conclusion

The brain does not generate consciousness but receives it. Sight is a metaphysical process which allows humans to figure things out. It help humans to think clearly but it needs to be prepared to reach that stage. Dreaming has unexplained phenomena which allow seeing the future in some cases which can't be explained except by an external signal. There are 11 dimensions and 7 levels of consciousness. Qualia can be explained biologically and psychologically.
